A Birthday Weekend

November 7, 2010

I’ll save the sappy “my baby is FOUR” stuff for another post, and instead just overload you with cute pictures.
This is Mallory after school on Friday. Rick & his mom picked her up from school and Mallory was SO EXCITED that Grandma was picking her up (but not as excited as she would have been if she’d been picked up at nap time, since that is when Alli’s grandma & grandpa pick her up when they come to visit…)

Saturday was the actual BIG DAY and she woke up to a bunch of balloons outside her door. She came to find …

Four years ago

November 5, 2010

Big weekend for my girl – I CAN.NOT.BELIEVE my baby is turning four. She’s been talking about it for a month (it didn’t help that we had her big friend birthday party three weeks ago) and when I tell her that I want her to stay three, she tells me that she has to turn four so she can be a “growed up”. I explained that being four doesn’t make her a grown up but she told me she had to be four and then she’d be the other numbers to be growed up. Then she counted to 19 and …

Halloween 2010

October 31, 2010

With Mallory getting older – and “getting it” more – events like Halloween are more fun. The excitement about her costume and candy and trick or treating has been building for weeks (not to mention that Halloween was a milestone we had to reach before it could be her BIRTHDAY).
We talked my mom into coming out to hand out candy at our house so that Rick & I could both take the kids. Alli & her folks came along, and Lauren joined us too.
The weather was chilly – but sunny – but I don’t think the kids cared. Luckily Carson …

Mallison is FOUR!

October 29, 2010

Mallory isn’t quite four (but she desperately wants to be!) but we held the girls’ joint birthday party a few weeks ago. So amazing to think that Mallory & Allison have literally been friends since the day they were born – I think it’s rare that they were lucky to find such a great friend to share almost every single day with over the past almost four years.
I don’t think I was a big blogger back when Mallory was little so I’m pretty sure I didn’t share this gem back in the day.
I think it was Mallory’s first or second …

There’s A Wocket in my Pocket

October 25, 2010

It’s hard for me to believe, but my baby boy has some strong opinions on books already. His recent faves are There’s a Wocket in my Pocket and Harry the Dirty Dog. If he happens to be walking down the hall and finds a random book on the floor, he’ll pop-a-squat right then & there and “read” the book (or if you are nearby, he’ll walk over to you, say something to you in Carsonese until you sit down, and then he’ll back up on to your lap so you can read it to him). Oh, are you (MOM) wondering why I …

Mallory’s DRob Song

October 23, 2010

I was putzing around in the kitchen this afternoon while Carson napped and Rick ran errands.
Mallory was sitting on the couch playing with who knows what and was quietly singing to herself. I grabbed my camera and requested an encore.
In case you are interested in the lyrics:
Denard Robinson is my favorite quarterback, he is he is!
I always love him, I love him,
He’s my favorite quarterback.
PS – We are thoroughly enjoying our bye week :-)

Lovey

October 23, 2010

Mallory & Carson have each had a special blanket from the very beginning. Mallory’s is a little bear that was a gift from my Aunt Pj & Uncle Nick. We have three bear blankies in the rotation (one for at school, one for at home, and one in case of emergency) and she still uses if for naps (at school) and bedtime (at home). I’ve written before about how she loves the tag on her bear blankie (see post “Tag This” from June 2008) and she still does it when she’s zoning out at bedtime.
Carson has a little puppy blankie, …

Two weeks’ worth

October 21, 2010

Here are two weeks’ worth of tailgating pictures.
First is the Michigan State tailgate. Notice it is the first time all season we didn’t have fleeces and raincoats and hats on (well, except for Rick because he was “working”). Notice also that it was the first time all season that I didn’t have kids at the tailgate. Instead I had a lot of jello shots and beer.

These next pictures are from the next week.
Carson is fired up on Football Friday.

Now – before you go call protective services, be aware that Mallory is doing FAKE jello shots – just …
