The “red sky by night” last night was spectacular – so I (of course) grabbed my camera to see what I could do.
This is what I did. No photoshopping of the background, I promise. When I asked Mallory who it was a picture of, she said “the beauuuuuuutiful princess”.
Here are two more of my silly princess.

Seasons
Mallory’s teacher told me a funny story about my sweet girl today.
Apparently they were talking about the calendar last week, and how it was August, and the season was summer.
Mrs Paula asked the class what season came after summer. Mallory put her hand up and Mrs Paula called on her.
Mallory’s answer?
“Football season! And then it’s winter!”
Sunflowers & Siblings
I PROMISE YOU that I don’t tell them to hold hands like this. Mallory just reaches her hand out, sometimes telling Carson to hold her hand, but he always does without a fight. I really need to get a good close up of just their hands.
Anywho, I took the kids out to check the sunflowers at Domino’s Farms. Carson was more interested in anything that wasn’t sunflowers, like the cows across the street…that had an electric fence keeping them in. Or Carson out.
So all of us headed across the street – and I couldn’t get any good pictures there because …
Is that a bad word?
Oh my sweet girl.
We were talking today about how the football games start in a few weeks, and Mallory said “GO BLUE!” and then she said “GO BUCKEYES!”
I whipped my head around and said “WHAT did you just say?”
“I don’t know”, Mallory replied.
Then she asked “Is that a bad word?”
Rick & I both asked her what she said and she quietly said “Go Buckeyes”, and we had to tell her that yes, that was a very bad word and she better not say it if she wants to go to any football games.
Later on in the day, …
Just three more minutes
Rick’s been out doing yardwork, and Mallory has been watching him from my bedroom window for about 30 minutes. At 8.52p, she asked if she can just stay up and watch a little bit longer, and I told her she could for eight more minutes, since she took a good nap on our way home from up north. She yells out the window “Daddy! Mom said I can watch you for EIGHT MORE MINUTES BECAUSE I TOOK A GOOD NAP IN THE CAR!” and then she ran downstairs to go help him him.
She came back up and asked for …
The wonderful thing about Grandpas…
I know I’m telling this whole “we rented the lake house…moved into my dad’s…bought a new house” story all in pieces, and you’ll get it all eventually, I promise. Anyway…
This picture sums up of one of my favorite interactions between my dad & Mallory during the time we lived at my dad’s house. Mallory had already gone to bed (not asleep yet though) and my dad noticed the fireflies were out like CRAZY. He asked if he could get Mallory up to come see them…how can I say no to that?
So my dad & Mals sat there on the edge …
Name Change?
If you ask Mallory what my real name is, she says “Aunt Sammie [last name]”.
She asked me the other day what her name would be when she is a grown up and was happy to hear that it would still be Mallory.
And then I told her that if Carson has kids, that then she would also be Aunt Mallory.
No response from the three-year old on that one.
First pictures at the new house
I am not quite ready to show real pictures of my house but I’m happy to share pictures of the kids outside.
As posted in the video below, Carson is beyond excited about the sidewalks that our neighborhood has to offer. He’s getting faster running. Which isn’t a good thing. Mallory wanted her picture taken like the statue we saw in New York City…
This picture is because videos don’t show up when I have my blogs turned into books, so I wanted to have a picture of Carson feeding himself…with a spoon..sort of…
Mallory is also loving the new house; I …
What a little ham…
I had a photo session tonight in Ann Arbor and after my assistant & I went to get some ice cream I realized the sky was unbelievably blue and gorgeous and I thought I’d try to get some cute pictures of my assistant, I mean daughter.
I am DIGGING these pictures. I swear that the sky is a real sky. My dad doesn’t believe me; apparently he thinks there is some random fake sky backdrop somewhere downtown.
But seriously – how silly is my sweet girl? I LOVE her!
Fourth of July – 2010
Just some pictures of Fourth of July with Mallory & Carson’s cousins (more later with the annual sparkler shots!).
We let the kids have a great big paint fest (only one dress was semi-ruined in this process), and then it was on to s’mores. I think Mallory eats around the marshmallow and just devours the chocolate & graham cracker.
It had been a long hot weekend with many hours spent at the pool. We had to do some fireworks early because Emily’s kids weren’t going to last until after dark. I just LOVE these pictures of the …
