It is sort of a little bit really hot this week so Mallory & Rick went for a dip after dinner. Mallory loves this slide but for some reason was afraid of it at first tonight. She would reach for Rick before she would even start sliding down the slide:

Today is our three-year anniversary. Three years ago right now I was boogying to the Electric Slide with my MOM (!) during my wedding reception, and Rick was probably in a corner trying to find a way to stay off the dance floor :-)

Seeing as how my opportunities to come home from work and have a few hours to myself are about to disappear when football starts on Sunday, I figured I’d take advantage of Rick having somewhat normal hours and leave Mallory at school and let him pick her up. I thought I’d come home, take Cooper for a long walk in the woods, maybe fold some laundry and just relax.

We tried to take Mallory tubing today. First she went with dad and cried for me the whole time. So I took one for the team and got in the tube with her and she still cried and moaned almost the whole time on our little mini-lap of the lake.

One of Mallory’s favorite playspots is in the bottom drawer of the bathroom. It is where all of my nail polish is. In the morning on the weekends when we bring her upstairs to try to get her to go back to sleep with us, she instead will crawl off the bed and head to our bathroom and come back with her arms full of nail polish bottles and will lay them out on my bed. The past few nights Mallory has had some sleeping problems. I don’t know if it was because her schedule was so wacky from our weekend trip or it could be that her second molars are starting to come in, but she will go down for bed fine but about an hour later she is up SCREAMING for me. I am not so good at getting her to lie back down (or is it lay?); Rick can usually go in and tell her to go back to sleep and she will. But I can’t stand seeing her face all blotchy and …
I am home sick again today (what is it with me and summer colds??). Anyway, this morning, Rick brought Mallory up to say goodbye to me and she was so sad. Usually when we say “go to school” she starts freaking out about getting to see YAYA and is in a big rush to get out the door!!

Mallory has been saying NO to us for a while, usually in response to “want to go to bed?” or “let’s change your diaper”. It’s never been a problem before when she’s said it because we can usually get her to what we need her to.
