Holy Fast Swimmers

August 11, 2008

I had to catch up on my new favorite Olympic sport this morning online – did you see the mens 4×100m freestyle relay? I don’t even care that it’s part of Phelps’ quest to win a million gold medals; that last US swimmer was amazing and it was awesome to see him come back on the French dude in the lane next to him.
I can’t even do the freestyle for 10 seconds without feeling like I’m going to drown (so much for my years on the Georgetown Country Club swim team).
If you didn’t get to see it yet – go …

Snickers® Salad

July 28, 2008

This was served at a BBQ we went to this past weekend; I googled the ingredients and came up with two versions – one calls for three apples/three Snickers® and one calls for six of each (but the same amount of Cool Whip).
I am probably going to make this for a get together we are going to this weekend so I will report back on my findings on the suggested volume of ingredients.
It is so freaking good, I can’t stand it.
1 (8 oz.) container Cool Whip
3 apples, diced
3 regular size SNICKERS® candy bars, frozen
Mix together the Cool Whip and apples. …

July 8, 2008

This is supposed to be a quiet month work-wise for my husband.
But due to the arrival of about four million pairs of new Adid.as shoes, he is working like a madman.

Fireworks!

July 5, 2008

I love having 3-day weekends – we have had so much fun just hanging out. I should say that I like this 3-day weekend – it’s the only holiday that we know for sure that Rick doesn’t have to work.
We spent yesterday on the boat again; we headed to the sandbar and Mallory & Rick hung out and swam and played for a bit. Mallory loves the water and the splashing daddy. :-)

Our lake puts on fireworks every year and we had a few people over to watch the show. Of course, no party would be …

The babysitter

July 2, 2008

(I just found this draft post…this is from when Rick & I went to a wedding back in April.)
Mallory spent the evening with our friends and their three kids B (6), K (almost 3) & A (almost 1) last night so Rick & I could go to a wedding.
Here are the text messages I received throughout the evening. I was cracking up:
6:24p – Ask RB is he fed Mals while u were gone – 2 turkey dogs, 1 lb watermelon, some pretzels and a piece of cheese…so far. She is very happy!
7:04p – Outside now. She LOVES B. Just …

My dad is so funny

July 1, 2008

Just so you get an idea of where I get my dumb sense of humor (MiMi is my dad’s nickname for Mallory):
Me: Can I borrow hillbilly golf this weekend?
My dad: Will you break it?  Will you bring MiMi with you when you pick it up? If your answers are “no” and “yes” (in that order) then my answer is “yes” in that order.
