Almost unbusy

Over a month ago, I posted this list of things I knew I needed to blog about. Let’s see how I’ve done…and then I’ll add to the list.

Mallory had a ruptured eardrum and RAGING ear infection a few weeks ago. (I’ll probably blog about this some day because it wasn’t one of my favorite parenting moments).

So, we’ve been busy. Thus the lack of real posts lately.
Here’s a summary of what’s been going on.

Why I blog

I’ve thought about this a lot the last couple of days – as I blog from vacation – that it might be ridiculous to take time away from my great family and the great weather and the great views and great fun to put all this stuff on my silly family blog. And I’ve been trying to figure out why I want to spend this time documenting these memories.
After writing a huge post explaining and justifying, I realized I don’t have to defend myself. So I deleted it.

The Sports Complex

Rick painted us up a little sports complex today when Biggie came to play.
We got a baseball diamond…

And a football field. Looks like our groundskeepers need to water the lawn more, though. And it looks like my husband needs to spend a little more time noticing that the names in the endzone are to be read properly from mid-field, not from the bleacher seats behind the goalposts.

Holy cow – my blog is five years old this week! I started this blog when we found out we were pregnant with the Mal-Star in February of 2006.
My blog turning five means that my pumpkin will turn five in about nine months.

Minivan Mama

I am a minivan mama.
I almost cried when I drove it off the lot. We didn’t really *need* it – but with the two cars we had (the Accord and the Xterra) we had no room to take anyone other than our family of four. I was never able to help take Mallory’s friends to dance or rock climbing or gymnastics, because we didn’t have room for three carseats in the back seat. Cuties by the Christmas Tree

We celebrated Christmas with my family on Sunday (since we’ll be traveling on Christmas day). As soon as my family started bringing presents in the house, Mallory was BEGGING to open them…and then her cousins started in on the begging too. The mean parents made them all wait until we had some snacks first and then they went to town. Oh, I was the mean mom & aunt that also made them pose in front of the tree with all the presents before we let them open any.

A Day in our Life

Totally copying this idea from a few other blogs I read…I wish I’d started it when Mallory was born, and done it every 6 months or so. Oh well – better late than never…so here we go!
Our “school-day” mornings usually start with my alarm going off sometime between 5 & 5.30a. If the alarm sounds closer to 5a and actually does the additional job of saying “GET YOUR A$$ IN FRONT OF THE TV AND DO YOUR WORKOUT VIDEO”, I’ll work out and then start getting ready for work.
