Wow – sorry about my absence. I just realized I hadn’t posted since SUNDAY and I know all eight of my readers are going through Mallory & Arlo withdrawal!
First of all, congrats to my dad – he passed a big test yesterday (something about green building and saving the planet for Mallory’s future). He’s been studying his a$$ off for weeks and hadn’t passed any of the practice tests he took and was really worried about the test yesterday. You need 170 right answers pass, and he got 179 right! He really IS an engineer! GO DAD!!!

Miscellaneous Stuff
For about 6+ months now, one of the big news topics is the rising price of gas. An impending hurricane would send gas prices up and up and they got as high as $4+/gallon by October 2008.
But the last couple of weeks, they have been dropping and dropping…and are now down to ~$1.74 (my sister even saw $1.68!). I know this isn’t Mallory or Arlo related but thought it would be good information for when they come back and read this in 30 years and gas is up to $20/gallon or something :-)

Other news of the times …
Tonytails or bawettes?
That is a common question in our house most mornings. I really need to get her on video saying “tonytails” because it’s too stinking cute.
And I think Mallory also thinks everyday is audition day “American Idol“. That girl is singing ALL.THE.TIME. My favorites:
“blah, yada, go away, tome adain nother day”, which I’m guessing is “rain, rain go away, come again some other day”
“blah, yada DIRTDAY TO YOU!!!!” (happy birthday to you)
“P S R T V W X Y Z now sing me” (ABCs)
Patty Cake is usually a duet she & I sing. Her part is in bold: Patty Cake, …
It's raining, it's snowing…wait, it's SNOWING??
Wahoo! We got our first snow of the season yesterday! I am so excited about the holidays this year and getting Mallory all fired up for Santa and everything, I’m ready to start decorating for Christmas RIGHT NOW (and I would if I could get into the attic but Arlo is preventing that from happening).
Mallory wanted to call her Papa & Nina to tell them that it was snowing up high. I’m sure they miss the snow a lot, seeing as how they live in Florida.
What Rick does before away games
In case you wondered what Rick did at away games and why he has to go two days early, here is a glimpse. I don’t think he actually makes an appearance on this video but you can get an idea of the super-hard work that goes on.
Warning – there is some foul language very briefly at the end of the video.
The beginning is the carts being wheeled into the stadium and the exchange at the end is what happens when they are testing the headsets and phones between the pressbox and the sidelines.
PS – You’ll be happy to know that …

All fixed, and other good news
My stupid car is already fixed and we don’t to have to pay a dime for the repairs (since the problem was “most likely” a result of the work the dealer did on it a month ago).
And the dealership is going to reimburse us the $140 towing charges.
(This should be on the Arlo blog but it’s all part of my good news Tuesday so I’ll share here). And, I got the results of our genetics testing and everything is normal. YEAH!!!!!
Memory
I saw this on another blog and had to record it here for future reference. It will find it’s way into my real scrapbooks, I promise you that.
Memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose.

Help A Sister Out
Here are two versions of the same picture. Which one do you think is cooler and why. Please discuss.
Ideally I would like to get one of these shots of her on the beach in Wisconsin enlarged for our wall but don’t know if I should do SOOC (that’s Straight Out Of Camera for you non-photography types) or play with it a little.
PS – I know the one on the right is a little dark.
A mom recommendation
I was able to get all of the crayon off Mallory’s kitchen toy.
Gotta love washable crayons and Mr Clean Magic Eraser.
