Three little monkeys, sleeping in my bed.
Good thing we have a king bed that fits both kids + Rick.

The room under the stairs
Before encouraging (or allowing) your kids to start an insane collection, think about what they will do with the collection when they are 40 (or what their wife will do with the collection). These are all full of baseball cards.
And all of these bins were under our stairs and would have prevented our whole family from taking shelter during the tornado, had I chosen to take shelter.
I’m moving them today.
Triathlon Trip–The Race
I am going to do a combo post here – my narrative and Rick’s race report. Rick’s stuff will be in blue italics, and my facebook statuses are in red. .
My race day really started the night before. I was actually able to get to bed at an early time for me, around 9 pm. This was perfect because I was planning on waking up at 3 am, six hours of sleep is what I was looking for. The alarm went off at 3 and I was on my way: shower, dress, grab my morning clothes bag, head out the …
A Triathlon Trip, Part 1
I figured I could share some pictures from the first half of our trip – these are a hodge-podge of phone pictures and little camera pictures and real camera pictures.
I’m not sure I’ve written much about it, but Rick has been training for an Ironman Triathlon – 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run. That’s a lot of miles.
Anyway, it’s been months and months of training and early morning workouts and all day workouts and long workouts on Saturdays and/or Sundays. So to be near the end of it – I was a little excited.
We headed out …
Live blogging Rick’s race
I had an idea to live blog during Rick’s race. If I was better prepared I would be doing this through Rick’s training blog but I don’t know his log-in stuff off hand.

Daddy & Daughter
Mallory had a big date night earlier this month…the much anticipated “Daddy-Daughter Dance”.
She was FIRED UP the week leading up to the event. She talked about how what if it was called the “Daddy-Daughter Kissing Dance”, or what if it was called the “Daddy-Daughter dance but with no daddies”.
Every day she woke up and told us how many more days until the dance, etc.
The morning of the dance she wanted to put on her dress at 7a. Later that day we were at the mall and I found a much more A-DORABLE dress that we talked Gigi into buying for …
Shenanigans
Mallory did the Shamrocks & Shenanigans race again this year – but this year she upgraded to the Kids’ 1K race, and Carson did the Kids Dash.
Carson talked about it ALL WEEK, asking us constantly “WHEN DO I GET TO DO MY WACE????”.
He was also pretty excited to do it with his buddy, Becca. Becca just turned three. Carson looks like a giant compared to her. Carson was concerned that Becca didn’t have “fast runner shoes” like he did (she had regular boring pink & brown tennis shoes, not white & blue like his).
They lined the kids …
Dashing Warriors
So I ran the first race I ever signed up for the other day. This was the one that got me to start actually trying to run this spring, and then I ran that other 5K in June – which was the first race I’d ever run. But the race today was the first one I ever signed up for.
But this wasn’t just any race, it was the Warrior Dash.
And this is what the Warrior Dash is: Warrior Dash is a mud-crawling, fire-leaping, extreme run from hell. This fierce running series is held on the most challenging and …
Lots of Cousins
We went to Chicago this weekend (more on that later) for a Cubs game (more on that later too) and got to meet up with lots of my cousins for dinner on Friday night.
The restaurant was noisy which was good for covering up my “not handling the time change well since we didn’t eat dinner until 8p Michigan time” kids but not good for trying to catch up with my cousins.
It was fun to see everyone though, and we’ll see them all again in October when Michigan plays at Northwestern!
Imam (my cousin Whitney’s boyfriend), my cousin Whitney, my cousin Rory, …
My Tigers
We went to the Tigers game last night.
Carson was excited. He said he was going to catch a ball.
Mallory was not excited. She was hot. And Rick was making fun of her.
Carson was adorable when he would excitedly yell “GO TIGERS!!!”.
Unfortunately he didn’t catch a ball this time.
Mallory was more excited when Rick finally gave her $10 to go ride the merry-go-round and we saw Paws on the way. Carson wouldn’t pose with Paws.
Both kids were excited about the temperature dropping two degrees once the sun went down, as well as riding the tigers on the merry-go-round.
I was excited that …
