Not quite canvasable – but cute anyway ;-)
Taken with the wireless remote (which Mallory is “hiding”) under a sky that had too much sun (that is why I like cloudy days for pictures).

While on our up north adventure we adventured south-west-ish to visit our neighbors who were visiting their parents’ lake house on Lake Skegemog (I’ll admit I had to google the name of the lake again because really – what kind of name is that? And please don’t ask me to say it.).
Lake Skegemog is connected to the better known Elk Lake and the famously-known Torch Lake. As was the theme of the week, the weather was fantastic and we got to go boating and tubing and funning on the lake.

At bedtime tonight, the kids wanted to stay up (mostly Mallory) and when Rick came in to say goodnight, he asked Mallory if she wanted to come watch bike racing on tv, thinking that since earlier today she said “Dad, can you put something on tv for me to watch that isn’t bike racing?”, that she would choose staying in bed.
Um no. Both kids popped up and said “I want to watch bike racing” and “I anna atch bike wacing!”.
Nice work, RB.
Just some pictures of my little golfer from up north. My aunt & uncle had a pretty green lawn that Carson loved using as his personal golf course. I think have have to work on his form a little bit. Oh, and Rick is thrown in there for good measure – he enjoyed some long hilly bike rides while we were up there.
Today was my turn to yell “I DEE YIT!” again ;-)
Rick wanted to water-ski, and seeing as how my dad is leaving tomorrow (and taking his boat with him), today was the last day we had access to a driver so ski Rick did.
He started on the dock and made a loop and then dropped a ski and made another loop. The kids were both yelling and cheering and it was fun.
Rick asked if I was going to go. I tried to say “oh no…that’s OK. it’s too cold…yada blada”.
Then my dad reminded me that Emily hadn’t been able to …
Today is a rare day. We have exactly one scheduled thing on the agenda (Mallory has a much hyped playdate with four friends from school…thank you Miss Christine for offering to host this epic PLAYDATE!).
But other than that – we got nothing. We have ribs ready to go for dinner, I’m hoping to get the firepit from my dad so we can do s’mores, and the kids are giving me the best gift of all – naps at the same time – WAHOO!!
But here is what we’ve done so far today. I don’t have a picture of me in here …
Who wouldn’t love living in a neighborhood like ours, with neighbors that text you at 8.30p asking “Are your kids asleep? Want to come have a beer on the deck?”
Um, OK!
But I do have to share this picture, because I can…sometimes we live in the Dexter trailer park, like when the aforementioned neighbors put all their deck furniture out in the yard and start grilling on the grass. How embarrassing! Luckily they had their deck stripped and put back together before they invited us for beers.
I think Rick needed the nap more than Mallory did, but either way – I’m glad they got their snuggle on this afternoon.
Here are the last of the pictures from our big vacation. We had a great time – once we got past the leaky ceiling and long day of travel. We spent all day everyday at the pool, except when we were at the snack bar or lunch buffet eating enormous amounts of french fries, pizza or nachos with nasty liquid cheese. My dad & Emily did go scuba-diving one day, and the grown-up boys went deep-sea fishing (Rick also did some deep-sea puking…)
Um, can you say sunburn? My only sunscreen screwup of the week…
Me & my darling sister.
