Rick’s been out doing yardwork, and Mallory has been watching him from my bedroom window for about 30 minutes. At 8.52p, she asked if she can just stay up and watch a little bit longer, and I told her she could for eight more minutes, since she took a good nap on our way home from up north. She yells out the window “Daddy! Mom said I can watch you for EIGHT MORE MINUTES BECAUSE I TOOK A GOOD NAP IN THE CAR!” and then she ran downstairs to go help him him.
She came back up and asked for …

Working it.
MCB, from our bed where she is supposed to be asleep: “Dad? DAD!? Will you cuddle with me?”
RB, to me: “Why does she always ask me?”
STB, to RB: “Because she knows you won’t say no.”
RB, to Mallory: “No!”
MCB, from still in our bed: “But I’ve been a good girl”.
And off he went.
I’d say Mallory has Rick wrapped around her finger.
Go Tigers
One thing that’s happened with us living at my dad’s is that I’ve paid more attention the Tigers than I have in a long time. Rick has connections so one random Wednesday – it was supposed to be a gorgeous night – I asked if he could get tickets.
So, we ended up down at the Tigers game and on random luck two of our friends were there (in suites…unplanned right next to each other!). We laugh that had we tried to plan a big Tigers game outing for a Wednesday night, we’d be into 2014 before we found a night …
April – in review
I promise I do spend time with my kids, I just don’t have a lot of time to write about it, apparently.
Let’s see.
So, Carson is taking advantage of his mobility and cuteness and now stands and begs while Rick cuts up fruit for breakfasts & lunches every morning. He semi-stomps his feet until he gets my attention so I can tell Rick to notice the little hungry person next to him (since you know Captain Oblivious won’t see him himself).
Carson also loves to do high-five and will *sometimes* show us how big he is. Dinnertime is hysterical …
Check out this sighting!
Holy cow! A picture of Rick & me, together! This is fantastic because now in 50 years when my kids are showing their blog books to my grandkids, they will know what we looked like :-)
Blog Material
Rick hasn’t made much fun of my blog time lately, probably because I haven’t spent much time blogging lately.
But the other night he screwed up and defended himself by saying he figured I needed material for my blog. How generous of him, eh?
Friday night I asked Rick to grab a cake (so we could try to do Carson’s cake smash pictures) and some ice cream. When he asked what kind, I said “oh, I don’t know, something oreo-ish or cookie-dough-ish…thanks!”.
Rick came home with this:
How many of you remember that I can’t eat peanuts (or peanut butter) right …
I’m still here
Hi.
Yes, it’s been a while.
But I’m still here.
It’s been a crazy week.
First – the Super Bowl – asked Mallory if she wanted to watch football and she told us “NO – I only like the tailgates”.
Then Rick & I headed to New York City for my Christmas present getaway. The trip was fun and not so fun.
Tuesday was fun – walked around the city, went to a taping of the David Letterman Show, had dinner, saw Chicago on Broadway, and stayed up way too late, even though we were kidless.
Wednesday was not so fun. NYC was under a winter weather …
Adventures in Hiking
While I slaved away in class, Rick took the kids hiking.
And you know that Mallory had to have her pink camel.back with her for the hike.
Apparently Mallory got tired by the end of the hike and Rick had to carry both of the kids. I scoff at that. One day for a few measly minutes ain’t NOTHING compared to every football Saturday when I have to carry both kids back to the car after the games.
Happy New Hair!*
We spent New Years Day 2010 watching football. Unfortunately for us, Rick was watching football with us again this year.
There’s always next year.
ANY-way. My dad invited us over to my sister’s for dinner on New Years Day, and seeing as how we were looking at having pizza for the 3rd night that week, we happily accepted!
For some reason, I took pictures of all of us at the table. And in case you were wondering, my brother-in-law really does have a face (he’s not like Wilson from Home Improvement).
After a great dinner, we rocked out to Rock Band…at …
Some things never change
Mallory & Rick were rough-housing in the living room (don’t tell my mom) and they were laughing and playing and making a lot of noise.
All of a sudden Mallory announced that she had to go potty. Rick let her get up and said “that’s the best way to get out of being tickled”.
TOTALLY reminded me of when I was little and that same excuse worked to get me out of being tickled to death by my dad.
