I am surviving my week of single-parent-ness. Barely, but I am surviving.
Our schedule for the beginning of the week was bath for Mallory as soon as we get home, then dinner, and then book & bed time and I was able to have her in bed by 6.45p with lights out for me by 9p. Thus I was able to function fairly well Wednesday & Thursday. Carson woke up only once per night those nights and went back to bed easily (I should raise his allowance!).

So, I’ve determined that I can’t eat chocolate and I can’t have caffeine. Both cause my sweet little baby’s tummy to get very grumpy and that isn’t so fun for mom & dad. Luckily I can survive without caffeine (just need to make sure I have caffeine-free coke on hand) but the no chocolate thing has been sort of hard. And you know I’m making sure Rick knows all about my dietary sacrifices for his son. His response? “Oooooh, so I can finish off those Oreos?”. I performed (and failed) a caffeine test yesterday and Carson was horrible all afternoon …
Seeing as how I’m wrapping up my 9th week of maternity leave (5 weeks after Carson plus the almost 4 weeks when I was still cooking Baby Arlo) and have spent a fair amount of time on my couch next to the windows that face our road, I am pretty tuned in to the happenings of my street. I had my first physical therapy appointment this morning. Because it was walk-in only for the first visit, I had to show up at 7a and then I had the first real appointment of the day at 8.30a. Luckily the hospital has wireless so I grabbed their world-famous pancakes and then worked from the cafeteria for an hour.
Of course my back has been feeling much better and when the appointment started, I felt like an idiot when I told the therapist that my pain today was a one on a scale of 1-10. But she did some pushing around …

Well, so far this week the only exciting things that happened are that we got a DVR in our bedroom (I’m thinking forward to when I’ll be in bed a lot with the new baby next spring, resting, while Rick takes care of Mallory!) and a new DVR in our living room (the old one conked out…I lost about 10 episodes of Little People, Big World…dammit Jim).
