My kids couldn’t stand it that it was finally time for a home football game again. When Mallory woke up yesterday morning, I asked her if she was ready to watch the football game on TV and she yelled “NO! IT IS A HOME GAME!!!”
I was pretty proud of myself – I had my stuff all ready the night before so for the most part I just had to grab it and go in the morning. We were out the door by 9.50a, and after a stop to pick up my folks and the chicken and Miss Header, we got …

Muscles Out
A few weeks ago Rick surprised us – in typical Rick fashion – by asking me casually on a Friday “want to go to the Tigers game tomorrow? We might have passes to watch batting practice.” If I ever get around to blogging about the rest of our summer vacation, you’d know that Rick really wanted to get to the ballpark in Toronto early enough to see batting practice, but so did about 100 other people so we didn’t get to see much.
So, Rick asked around (thanks Jay!) and was able to get us passes for batting practice. It was …
Geaux Blue!
FINALLY it was game time!
We hopped on the bus at the hotel to head to the SuperDome. We got the always fun police escort and it took us right down the middle of the trolley tracks on Canal Street. It was awesome, especially when Biggie pointed out (via text) that I was getting a police escort to a tailgate.
Mallory got confused by the scoreboards. She thought that the numbers next to the TOL (Time Outs Left) meant the score. She finally found the real score and said “OH! There it is! It keeps trying to trick me!”
Ryan was a few …
Win #9
(I’m writing this post over a month late but again posting in the right spot. Oh well.)
The Nebraska Cornhuskers came to the Big House for the first time in November.
We beat them.
Go BLUE.
Carson got impatient and took off ahead of us for the gates.
What? I have to wait for you?
Love my Michigan girl.
Oh hey. What’s up?
What? TWO good pictures of Malsy & me??
Nice photobomb, Grandpa. And, Grandpa – since you’re going to ask me what “photobomb” means – click here: photobomb
Little Michigan Riding Hood got silly near the end of the game.
Busy
So, we’ve been busy. Thus the lack of real posts lately.
Here’s a summary of what’s been going on.
Mallory had a ruptured eardrum and RAGING ear infection a few weeks ago. (I’ll probably blog about this some day because it wasn’t one of my favorite parenting moments).
We went to the football game at MSU and we lost. (I probably won’t blog about that).
Mallory’s two bottom teeth continue to get wigglier and wigglier. She still believes that she isn’t allowed to lose these until 1st grade. (The pediatrician even noticed that Mallory had loose teeth because they are getting …
Road Trip
Nothing like a beautiful fall weekend with 80* weather for a night football game on the shores of Lake Michigan!
The kids and my folks and I took to the highway (or espressaway as Mallory still calls it) to watch Michigan play “the Kitties” (Northwestern).
We made a stop at Lou Malnatis in Chicago for my favorite pizza before going to Evanston. We tried to scope out parking and tailgating options but they don’t have golf courses and high schools nearby (and for some reason my package of football parking passes didn’t come with a pass for Ryan Field…)
So, we thought we …
Game 4, 2011
Hmmmm…
CW – could you please just smile for a picture with your dear old mom?
Grandpa – was this as insulting to you as it was when I read a book during our tour of the Grand Canyon back when I was like 12?
Tackle football with the K kids. The first day back to school after playing with B, K & A usually results in the teachers mentioning that C was a little rough with the other kids ;-)
Weally weally fast…
We won. We beat San Diego State. Go Blue!
“I thought you said we won?”
Michigan played their first ever night game in Michigan Stadium last night. We won. It was awesome. It was exciting. It was everything it could have been.
I told Rick before the game that Michigan better win because otherwise it would have been a waste of a perfectly great tailgate and day. I left the kids with a sitter (thank you Miss Joy!) and prayed it wouldn’t rain and that we’d win. I wasn’t disappointed.
Our day started off with a family trip to Lowes – Rick actually didn’t have to go into work until about the time I was going to …
Game One
Michigan’s 2011 season started yesterday.
The weather predictions were all over the place the whole week before the game. As late as Thursday night there were predictions of 60% chance of strong afternoon thunderstorms on Saturday. By Friday morning it had dropped to 20% chance – HOORAY! But it was now forecasted to be in the mid-90s. Hmmm.
As we packed up the van Saturday morning I totally forgot to pack rain gear. But it was like 80* and not a cloud in the sky at 9.30a. I had sunscreen though, which was all I thought we’d need.
Biggie & Rich had a …
Cago
We took a family trip to Chicago a few weeks ago. Rick & I had Cubs tickets and we had a babysitter (my cousin) lined up to watch the kids for us at the hotel while we went to the game.
As we neared the city Friday afternoon, and could start to see the big buildings, we pointed out to the kids that it was Chicago. When we got into the city and were driving amongst the big buildings, Carson would point out his window at a building right next to us at a stoplight, and would yell “CAGO!!!”. It was …
