Wow…three posts in one day

March 30, 2008

I know I’ve posted a similar picture, but these pictures have corresponding video. Mallory tossed her big Easter ball into the bathtub and went in headfirst to try to get it out:

And here is the best part…watch her head when I ask her if she needs help:

Big shoes

March 30, 2008

Mallory is obsessed with shoes. I think most kids go through this phase so it’s nothing unique to our pumpkin-head but I still find it hysterical to see her constantly want to put shoes on, especially when they are her little flip-flops that we need to jam over her fat little feet and only stay on for about three steps before she steps out of them. So I guess she thought she’d try a bigger pair of flip-flops:

We had an incident on the escalator at my work yesterday in her old pedipeds and they got a little chewed …

Tiny Bubbles

March 18, 2008

We are making progress in our swim class – Mallory has always enjoyed it but just Monday night started actually blowing bubbles in the water. Here she is practicing in the bathtub. Please, please, please ignore my crazy mom cheers in the background. I almost edited out the sound but then realized you wouldn’t be able to hear her bubble-blowing. Enjoy.

The other day when I picked my pumpkinhead up from school, I asked about the food we send for her. She gets breakfast, snack, lunch, and a second snack at school; I was wondering if a single grilled …

New Trick

March 10, 2008

Mallory learned a new trick this weekend. Actually, she self-taught herself a new trick this weekend.
I realize that I may seem like a horrible mom for standing by while she put herself in danger but (a) I have faith in my daughter’s balancing skills, and (b) if she does fall she’ll learn quicker to not do it again than she will if I freak out and scream “Don’t do that!!!”. I’m happy to report that she hasn’t fallen yet and we are working on me calmly reminding her that chairs are for sitting.
That said – I can’t resist her triumphant …

Paul Simon’s “The Obvious Child”, interpreted by Mallory:

Pay no attention to the dog in the foreground destructing the indestructible kong.

Haunted House

February 26, 2008

I have a ghost in my house!

Thank goodness she is a friendly ghost…

We are surviving Rick being gone. Mallory has been sleeping a little weird this week – could be teeth, could be that she has to get up about 90 minutes earlier for school when I do drop off, or could be because her daddy isn’t here. She isn’t interested in talking to him on the phone either – so it makes me wonder if she is trying to snub him back since she feels snubbed by him being gone.

There have been a few funny things …

Miscellaneous Mallory

February 19, 2008

I tried to get her dancing and watching her reflection in the TV but as soon as I got the camera out, she stopped. She was also trying to imitate me snapping my fingers. Now THAT was funny. Maybe another day.

Giddy Up

February 9, 2008

Mallory (actually she was still Baby Fred at the time) got this cool rocking horse from Rick’s Aunt Sharon & Uncle Gary at one of our baby showers. They made it for her and it has a blue & yellow “M” on the side – not quite a block M, but what do you expect from those Buckeyes? And I am not convinced that there isn’t a hidden scarlet & grey O on it somewhere…
Anyway, Mallory has sat on it a few times and let me rock her but today she figured out how to make it go on her …

What do I say?

January 30, 2008

I don’t even know how to title this post. So I’ll just jump into the stories:
Mallory likes to help give Cooper dinner. Usually she is happy with giving him his arthritis pill and then showing me where his bowl is so I can dump his food.
Tonight, she reached for the cup we use for his food so I let her at it. This is a one-cup plastic measuring cup, filled to the brim with little pebbles of dog food. She immediately tips it and some of the food dumps on the carpet. She loses it and starts crying. I tell …
