Busy

November 10, 2011

So, we’ve been busy. Thus the lack of real posts lately.
Here’s a summary of what’s been going on.

Mallory had a ruptured eardrum and RAGING ear infection a few weeks ago. (I’ll probably blog about this some day because it wasn’t one of my favorite parenting moments).
We went to the football game at MSU and we lost. (I probably won’t blog about that).
Mallory’s two bottom teeth continue to get wigglier and wigglier. She still believes that she isn’t allowed to lose these until 1st grade. (The pediatrician even noticed that Mallory had loose teeth because they are getting …

A new one from Mallory

July 7, 2010

While struggling to pull up underpants or shorts that might be a smidge too small, Mallory will complain that they are “too heavy” to pull up by herself, and asks for help.

Another preposition story

March 31, 2009

Rick has started asking Mallory to listen to him when he needs her to do something. He says: “Mallory, you need to listen to Daddy” and she responds “I listen for you Daddy”.
* * *
And this doesn’t have to do with prepositions but it’s another Mallory-ism. She likes to eat dinner at the “res-or-raunt”. I know the pronunciation isn’t that far off from normal but it still kills me when she says it.

That's Hot

October 18, 2008

Mallory seems to be more a fan of cloudy days than sunny days. Whenever we are in the car and the sun is beating on her, she covers her face with her hands and says “HOT, Mommy!”.
It makes me giggle.
Oh, we used to have a shade on that window but then she broke it and I haven’t replaced it yet.

Freeze Frame

October 14, 2008

My little girl has been FUNNY the past couple of days.
First, here are some more of her new phrases:

Me too!
My turn
Want some? – this is said as she walks through the house with a bowl and a spoon, pretending like she is whipping up something tasty, and then she offers it to us with a sweet “want dom, mommy? want dom daddy?” Tonight she took it up a notch and asked me if Cooper wanted some, so she fed some to Cooper. And then she turned to the TV and tried to feed the people on TV.
Not a phrase but …

Wick

September 26, 2008

It must be an almost 2-yr old thing, because I just read on a friend’s blog that her almost 2-yr old son has started saying her first name instead of Mom.
Mallory is doing the same thing but with Rick. She’ll stand in the living room and yell “Wick! Wick!”
It makes me laugh.
It makes Rick grumpy.
Which makes me laugh more.

Hmmmmmm….

September 17, 2008

So, Mallory’s new thing is “What dat, Mama, hmmm?”
I am trying to pay attention more when I talk to her to see if she picked it up from me. But it is so funny to hear her say “hmmmm?”.
She also says “K” for OK all the time. It is hysterical. She says it 100 times more than she says yes and it’s another random thing that we are trying to figure out how it made it’s way into her vocabulary.
* * *
This week has been somewhat uneventful. Rick didn’t have work Sunday night like he normally does, but did on …

Almost in Trouble

August 6, 2008

From the minute I picked her up from daycare yesterday, I was prepping Mallory for the fact that she was going to sleep in her OWN bed. I don’t mind letting her sleep in our bed as a treat but the night before last (Monday night) she ended up in our bed all night and I got zero sleep.
So, whenever I’d tell her “you are going to sleep in your own bed tonight!”, Mallory would reply, “mmmooooo”, while shaking her head, “mommy bee-bee (which I am guessing means bed)”.
Well, when it was time to put Mallory down, she protested for …

The music battles have already begun

August 4, 2008

I thought I’d have a decade or so before I had to fight over the radio in my car. But no.
My kid likes her kiddie music. You know – the Bah Bah Black Sheep, Wheels on the Bus, No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, the Itsy Bitsy Spider that I’ve had to sing in the car for the past month. I expanded our music collection to get more options and purchased a three-CD set of children’s music. I asked Rick if he needed a CD for his car and he said no. What? How does that work? If I …
