Totally

June 2, 2013

Michigan softball is in the World Series and due to some tornados in Oklahoma City, the games got switched around and Michigan was scheduled to play their second game at 9.30p ET last night. But then due to the 7p game going 15 innings, Michigan’s game didn’t start until 1a. I had fallen asleep and woke up in the 2nd inning, just in time to see us take a 2-0 lead that went the distance (thanks to a home run by the best home runner). I tried to wake the kids up to watch the end (at 3.30a) but they …

First & Second

May 27, 2013

After almost two years of weekly swim lessons at Goldfish, Mallory graduated to the swim team. At her first swim team practice, they told us that we should just let her swim for 30 minutes or so because it will be a big adjustment from her 30-minute swim lessons but at the 29 minute mark of the one hour swim team practice, she was breathing heavy on the side of the pool, but she didn’t give Rick or me any indication that she was ready to get out of the pool. At the end of practice, I think the coach …

Mother’s Day Tea

May 27, 2013

The annual “Mother’s Day Tea” at Carson’s school was the Friday before Mother’s Day and seeing as how I forgot about it last year, I wasn’t going to miss it this year. Carson and his classmates sang a couple of songs and then we had a tea party with finger foods and tea. See the bottom for videos. Way.Too.Cute. I love Carson’s big grin peeking out at me during his songs.

Another

Another for the “things I didn’t think I’d hear as a mom” files:
“MOM!!!! My pee looks like a football helmet!!!”
Turns out the bubbles he made in the toilet were in the shape of a football helmet. He wasn’t joking or exaggerating. It really did look like a football helmet. I took a picture but will spare y’all that visual.

Carson Funnies

May 14, 2013

Bedtime last night:
Me: “why do you always want to sleep in my bed?”
Carson: “because I wuv you so much!”
This morning:
Carson: “to save the earth, we put our trash in the garbage. Miss Jody told me that.”
And, after washing his hands (he’s supposed to count to 20):
“I counted in my head. In English.”

A Pink Softball Batgirl

May 11, 2013

Mallory has been looking forward to turning 6 since it meant she could finally be a batgirl for a Michigan softball game. She ended up being batgirl for three games in one weekend a few weeks ago (when it was freezing and snowing) and had SO MUCH FUN. She tells me all the time “ALLLLLL the softball girls know me…” and now that she’s actually hung out with them in the dugout and the lockerroom, I think she has some new BFFs.
As luck would have it, she got to be batgirl for the pink game (for breast cancer awareness) last …

All About MOM, by Mallory

May 11, 2013

This came home in Mallory’s backback yesterday.
I am giggling that the best thing I cook is cookies, but she is pretty spot on with the rest of it. I have to admit that I was like “I am NOT 43 years old!” and then I was like “oh wait, yes I am”.

Oh, how I love that girl.

It was two more weeks…

May 6, 2013

We had two healthy weeks, and then Carson got sick again and I missed two-plus more days of work. Luckily no one else got it again (so far), but the birthdays in our family that bookend the month of April were a complete disaster because of sickness.
I think I should get more of these to have birthday redos.

Miscellaneous

Well it’s been Two Weeks

April 22, 2013

I had a birthday, Carson had a birthday, I got sick (and better) Carson got sick, Michigan won in basketball (semi-finals of Final 4), Carson got better, Michigan lost in the championship, Mallory got sick, Carson had his 4-yr old well-child visit, Mallory was still sick, Mallory got better, Rick felt sick and drank ginger ale and felt better.
And that, my friends, was the first two weeks of April.
