Well, so far this week the only exciting things that happened are that we got a DVR in our bedroom (I’m thinking forward to when I’ll be in bed a lot with the new baby next spring, resting, while Rick takes care of Mallory!) and a new DVR in our living room (the old one conked out…I lost about 10 episodes of Little People, Big World…dammit Jim). But the most exciting thing is that I got to out to dinner with some friends last night – without my family! Not that I didn’t miss them terribly during the inhalation of …
Going to work
This morning I was getting ready for work and Mallory kept interrupting me. I told her I had to hurry up to get ready to go to work and she told me that SHE was going to work too.
I asked her where she worked.
According to her, she works at a hockey game.
Mama, come cuddle me
Just as I sat down to the computer tonight to do some (apparently) long overdue blogging, I was thinking I would go with the boring “Weekend Review” title that I seem to use after somewhat uneventful weekends. But then Rick called me to the side door to show me something, and Mallory – who should be asleep but was at least quiet in her room – heard us and came to her door and said four little words that shattered my usual “shut up and go to sleep go night-night” resolve.
“Mama, come cuddle me.”
I mean SERIOUSLY. How do I …
ALL WAY HEY!
A no-explanation-needed video to kick off this post:
Add “tinkle lee-lee scar” to Mallory’s song list. Oh, you’ve never heard of that song? Perhaps you’ve heard an alternative version, titled “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”.
* * *
With some of the sleep problems we’ve had lately, we thought we’d give Mallory an option of where she wanted to sleep – in her big girl bed or in the crib. I never in a million years thought she’d pick the crib – she always picks the big girl bed and we can usually get her to go to sleep after giving her the choice.
Sure, …
Thankful
I think I should (belatedly) share my list of things I am thankful for.
I am thankful that Rick & I both have jobs and a house and cars that run. I am thankful for the football season being over, even though we don’t get our Christmas vacation this year. I am thankful for my family living so close, even though they drive me crazy sometimes. I am thankful for the blob of Arlo in my tummy who moves almost ALL.THE.TIME and I would like to tell Arlo that even though I yell at him/her to SETTLE DOWN IN THERE, …
Funny Mallory-isms
Again, another quick post. I am disappointed that these aren’t more journaly but oh well. Here goes:
Coming home from school today, Mallory saw a house lit up with Christmas lights. From the back seat of the car she yelled, “LOOK – IT’S PRETTY!!!!”
Also on our way home from school – I asked Mallory what she thought Cooper was doing right then. Her response? “Eating my gocks (socks)”.
Cooper has a bad habit of running past us to get down the stairs and I’m afraid that one of these days he is going to knock Mallory over. He almost did …
Stuff to remember
I am worn out and thus this will be a boring post; and that means it is going to be done up bullet-style.
Leaving daycare today, we were already in the car – Mallory yelled “BYE AL-SON (Allison)!!!! BYE FWENDS (friends)!!!!! BYE DEMI!!!!!!! BYE MEHWEEEEE (Mary)!!!!!” (Demi & Mary are two of the teachers).
Whenever it’s time to eat, Mallory tells me “eat time!”
She is still obsessed with pretending to offer us food – usually with her spoons that she grabs from the silverware drawer, but sometimes she pretends with her hands. The other night we spent about five solid minutes of …
Pregnancy Update (23w3d)
Baby Arlo is advanced already! This is the info from my 23w email I got: ”…now that she’s more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound, and you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes…” (note – the use of “she” here is babycenter (dot) com’s doing, not mine…do not read anything into it…next week it will refer to the baby as a “he”).
Anyway – the email says that at 23 weeks we MAY be able to see the baby squirm under my clothes. But seeing as how I saw the baby squirm …
It’s beginning to look a (little) like Christmas!
Yeah! We got our tree up today!! Rick brought it in the house this evening and Mallory helped him screw the base on the tree:
She sang some sort of “turn it round” song during this exercise.
Then Rick asked Mallory where the tree should go. She told us “outdide”. But after Rick suggested maybe in the living room, by the TV, this is where she thought it should go:
Mallory wanted to help put the star “on top” of the tree so she grabbed her little stool (also her potty) to assist in reaching the top …
Slowly
Slowly is Mallory’s new command when she is making me sing either Row, Row, Row your boat or Patty Cake. She’ll tell me “sssllllllloooooowwwwwllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyy” so I have to sing it slowly.
She is also working on her hockey-speak. She makes a lot of words end in “ie” or “y” that aren’t supposed to (like how most hockey players have nicknames that end in “ie” or “y”: Chris Chelios = “Cheli”, Steve Yzerman = "Stevie”, etc). She says milky, juicy, and some other things that I can’t think of right now.
New song in her repertoire – “Jingle Bells…HEY” (skipping “…jingle …
