After having no snow days in kindergarten, Mallory has had four snow days in first grade. I’ve heard my teacher friends talk about how to encourage a snow day with some bedtime rituals, so I laughed when Mallory got off the bus today and told me what she wanted to do before bed.
Here is the video of her telling me what she learned about how to get a snow day:
And she was beside herself at bedtime, running around the house, getting a white crayon and a spoon and yelling at Rick & me so that we could simultaneously flush three …
Hoops with Carson recap
Carson & I went to the basketball game today – Michigan won big near the end (after trailing early).
In the car going home, I thanked Carson for going to the game with me and he said “you’re welcome!”
I told him it was really fun.
He said “But when we won? It was WEALLY fun!”
And then he said “The bad team was winning at the beginning but then we got ahead!”
When I asked what is favorite part of the game was, he said it was when we won. And his second favorite part was “bout when we got some slam …
Six-ish months of posts
I really should title this “A year-plus of posts” because I really feel like it’s been that long since I’ve been really writing here. So I’m going to do a massive update post (with no pictures, because that is my big road-block lately) and try to get caught up.
Football started, school started, activities started, we went to Purdue for an away game, the Tigers made the World Series (Carson still loves baseball), Tigers didn’t win the World Series, Halloween, Mallory’s birthday, basketball season started (Carson still loves basketball), Thanksgiving, Christmas, trip to Tampa for the bowl game, Mallory lost …
Carson’s latest
Carson is still such a little dude and it is so funny to hear some of the stuff he comes up with.
Leaving Florida last week, Mallory said “we are closer to Miami!” and Carson said, “and MY Ami!”
He informed us that when he gets older, he will play football – QB – at Michigan and that his name will be Denard Robinson. When he is done playing football his name will be something else (not Carson or Denard). This goes back and forth about whether he will be Denard Robinson or Denard Brandt.
Rick just headed to the basement [where the kids …
Little Mallory [also known as “the day Devin tweeted about Mallory”]
Make sure you read this post first, and then read this.
So – two days after Devin Gardner & Jeremy Gallon visited Mallory’s classroom, Mallory participated in “U Meet the Athlete” with the Michigan Dance Team: they did 90 minute dance practice, and then got to dance at a Michigan women’s basketball game.
We got to Crisler and as the game started, I noticed that Devin was sitting directly across the court from us (me, my mom & dad, Miss Header & Chris, my sister & her family). I [mostly jokingly] said to Mallory that she should go say hi – thinking there …
Mr. Ice Cream & Mr. Jeremy
Last fall, I asked Rick if he thought he could get some football players to come read to Mallory’s class, like Devin Gardner or something. Rick asked if I thought Devin could read and I said yes, because he wore glasses. :-)
Anyway, over the next few months, apparently Devin kept checking in with Rick about when he could come read to Mallory’s class. When we saw Devin at Christmas on the bowl trip, Rick & Mallory went to ask him officially if he’d come to her class.
He ended up being able to come last month, and brought Jeremy Gallon (or …
I’m the turkey
Carson just came to our bed and snuggled down in between Rick and me. He said we were “surrounding” him and I said it was a Carson sandwich.
He said “you and daddy are the ‘bweads’ and I’m the TURKEY!”
Yes indeed.
Carson’s Staying Home Day
Almost every single morning, Carson’s first words are “MOMMYYYYYYYY!!!! Will you take me to school?” And when I tell him no (because it would make me late for work), he starts crying and showing a huge pouty lower lip with big fat tears falling from his eyes over his big fat cheeks.
It kills me.
So a few weekends ago on a Saturday Carson ran downstairs (at like 8.30a) and asked if I’d take him to school that day. I was just about to walk out the door to run to the grocery store for bacon or milk or something, so I …
I’m so exadid
Rick has been out of town for a couple of days – and came home today. When he unpacked Mallory’s backpack after school, we found this. So adorable.
My Snow Angel
This girl loves the snow – I don’t remember any other year that she was so excited to throw on her snow pants and boots and go out in the freezing cold. Maybe it’s because it’s still new this season but she loves it.
