So not sure if you read my buddy’s comment on my “New Trick” post – basically it was picking on me about how Mallory let my “I love you” fall flat on the floor at the end of the video. I emailed him back and told him about how I almost edited that end part of the video because it hurt my feelings a little how she dissed me.
This is the email I got in response:
you’ll be fine.
Her whole social-awkwardness perception is off a little. Maybe because she’s only 16 months. The only conversation she thinks is worth having is …
All Tubed Up
Tubes are installed in my little pumpkinhead’s ears. Mallory was soooo good at the hospital. She took all her medicine and let Aunt Emily weigh & measure her. She looked A-DOR-ABLE in her little gown tied in the back. She got the little ID anklet thingy put on and then pulled up her gown so they could put one on the other ankle (but alas, only one ID anklet per patient).

“But I need TWO anklets”
Sweet gown, dude.
I think I was more nervous than Mallory was.
(The pictures stop here because I thought …
Not a good start
Reports are that the littlest patient woke up on the wrong side of the crib this morning (Rick is home with her, I’m at work). She didn’t want anything to drink…she’s got a long day ahead of her.
Wish us luck.
New Trick
Mallory learned a new trick this weekend. Actually, she self-taught herself a new trick this weekend.
I realize that I may seem like a horrible mom for standing by while she put herself in danger but (a) I have faith in my daughter’s balancing skills, and (b) if she does fall she’ll learn quicker to not do it again than she will if I freak out and scream “Don’t do that!!!”. I’m happy to report that she hasn’t fallen yet and we are working on me calmly reminding her that chairs are for sitting.
That said – I can’t resist her triumphant …
TubeDay Tuesday is Tomorrow
We got the call: Mallory’s surgery is set for noon tomorrow. Nothing to eat after midnight tonight, only Sprite, apple juice or water tomorrow morning until 8:45a and then nothing until after the surgery (probably a trip to Wendy’s for her favorite chicken nuggets will be in order!). We will hide her booster seat tonight and I have to make Rick PROMISE to not eat in front of her in the morning. She totally wants whatever we are eating, especially at breakfast. On the weekends she gets pancakes and I eat cereal. She usually wants a bite or twelve of …
New baby
Congrats to Shauna & Brian on the birth of their third baby (and third girl!) Sage. I don’t know any details besides her name but hooray for the new baby :-)
Peace & Quiet
Wow – what a nice morning. It’s 8:02a Sunday and everyone is still asleep in my house. I’m catching up on some DVRd shows that I am behind on and enjoying a quiet morning.
Rick & I spent yesterday looking at homes. We are so struggling with the decision to move. We LOVE the lake but we are just far enough away from town that it leaves me feeling so removed from life. I don’t mind the drive to & from work but when I have to rush home to let the dog out before returning to town for Mallory’s swim …
Favorite Sound
Every mom talks about how their favorite sound in the world is their kid’s laugh.
I think my second favorite sound in the world is hearing my husband laugh at my kid. Mallory is in the bathtub right now and all I hear is splash-splash-(Rick laughing)-splash.
I ? it.
Add it to the list
Add a new illness to Mallory’s list – she has some blisters on her hands and feet which the doctor thinks is hand, foot & mouth disease (it isn’t as gross as it sounds – I promise). This is probably contributing to her extreme irritability (one site says it causes “severe fussiness – this is often the worst part of the illness”) and not wanting to eat. I am mildly irritated that she was just at the doctor Wednesday and they didn’t notice anything. Argh. Cross your fingers that this doesn’t affect our TubeDay Tuesday.
She seems to be in a …
Countdown to Tube-day Tuesday: 6 days
Holy smokes. My kid is a disaster. She has been drooling like crazy the past three days (blowing through bibs), having inconsolable fits of screaming and crying, hands in her mouth, waking up in the night, not wanting to eat, not wanting to drink. Our normal drives home from school each day usually involve her chatting and falling asleep or fussing and falling asleep. But the past three days, EVERY SINGLE TIME we get in the car, it’s a non-stop screamfest, with a little extra screamfest whenever we arrive at out destination.
Rick took her to the doctor this morning – …
