I think we are in the clear or at least have “the clear” in our sights. Mallory is 8-million times better than she was on Monday. She is chatty and laughing and crawling and standing and taking a few steps but isn’t back to 100% yet (I’ll consider her 100% better when she is marching around the house with her favorite plastic spatula, heading straight for Cooper’s water dish). We’ll see how she is Wednesday and hopefully we can cancel our appointment Thursday with the pediatric orthopedist.
We had a scare today though – I called the pediatric orthopedist to give …
Feeling a Little Better…
Mallory is still showing a few signs of normalcy. She ate VERY well tonight at dinner (banana, applesauce with rice cereal, cheerios, water) and was actually playful…her new “thing” is peekaboo with her hands, which was going well until I let her have applesauce on her tray (all pictures will get bigger if you click on them)…
As of a little while ago, she is still uninterested in bearing weight on her right leg. After talking with the docs again later this afternoon, they are thinking “Transient Synovitis” which you can read about here. She is still fever-less which …
ER Follow-up
We followed up with Mallory’s regular doctor today (well, Rick did; I had the day scheduled off already to take my mom to a doctor’s appointment). Mal’s doc forwarded Rick & Mallory to the pediatric orthopedic people at the hospital, who in turn forwarded them off to pediatric radiology (where I finally met up with them). Mallory got some more ultrasounds done on her hips and those came back normal again. Was sort of scary because she hadn’t eaten since before her first appointment at 9a and when I asked about giving her a bottle at noon, someone said not …
E.R.
What a night. Our family (minus Cooper) spent 8+ hours in the Pediatric ER last night with our poor little girl.
Our sweet baby has been a little sick all week – runny diapers and horrible diaper rash. A couple of calls the doctor’s office and they said to just keep them posted but as long as she was eating & drinking & acting normal, to just keep going on. Friday I got the dreaded call from daycare to come get Mals because she had a fever and was really lethargic. We came home and she was just laying around and …
Miscellaneous
Mallory likes spaghetti:
The sweetest picture I’ve ever taken of my little pumpkinhead (too bad she has that owie on her cheek from mama):
And here are some pictures of Mallory getting an “underdog” push from her big cousin Lauren. Just an aside…I am praying that Mallory’s little curls will grow out to be gorgeous ringlets like Lauren’s :-) That girl has got some beautiful hair.
Good Big Brother!
Just a quick post about my Cooper-dog who loves his little sister:
Mallory is sleeping and there is a little boy outside near our front yard and he just started crying. Mallory’s monitor isn’t going off so I know it’s not Mallory but it sure sounds like her. Cooper just went RUNNING back to Mallory’s room with his eye on the door knob waiting for me to open it. I guess he wants her to wake up and have lunch and hopefully share some with him. Hahahaha.
She has been asleep for about 3.5 hours…and I have actually been getting some scrapbooking …
Mom of the Year
Ooops. For all the walking (and subsequent falling) that Mallory has been doing the past couple of weeks, the only injuries have been a slight bruise on her cheek from a toy bus at school and a bruise on bum from falling on her bag of wooden blocks. How horrible that her first bloodshed was the result of a hug from mom.
Some of her favorite toys are Cooper’s hard bones. Cooper chews & gnaws on them and the plastic (I think they are plastic?) gets some pretty rough edges. Last night Mallory was walking around with one and I scooped …
Silly Baby Tricks – "Cheers!!"
Mallory’s new trick…we still have to teach her to take a big drink after clinking our cups.
Funny Girls
Wednesdays are a special day for Mallory – my sister’s husband stays home with their kids and this fall he is watching Mals on Wednesdays. The first couple of weeks were a little tough for everyone – Mallory was pretty clingy and wouldn’t sleep. But I think she’s starting to adapt to spending a whole day with two of her cousins – 2-yr old Lauren and 5-mo old Liam (poor Shane misses the chaos because he’s in 1st grade).
Anyway, today when I picked up Mallory – Mikey had two stories for me. Story #1: I guess Rick didn’t warn him …
Back to basics?
I’ve started taking this blog in a different direction than was originally intended. I planned on it being a journal about Mallory and her developments but it’s morphed into a journal about family life. I think that’s OK but for some reason it bugs me a little.
Anyway, Rick’s family was in town for the weekend for the game and to see Mallory (hopefully not in that order?). We only see them a couple of times a year so it was good to spend some time with them. Mallory warmed up to them all right away and is happy to show …
