Carson just came over and asked if it was Mallory’s birthday yet. (no, not yet).
Is it grandma’s birthday? (no, not til April).
Is it MY birthday? (nope).
Is it your birthday? (nope).
Is is daddy’s birthday? (nope, we are all in April except Mallory)
Then why do you have that candle?
(I have a smelly candle burning in the kitchen to try to mask the power of garlic from the tailgate food I started prepping last night. I love the conversations that seem so random but make perfect sense in a 3 yr old’s head!)
Dinner
I loved this.
Mallory asked what was for dinner. I said I didn’t know.
She said back “I know when you say you don’t know what’s for dinner that we are going to Aubrees.”
* * * * * * * * * *
(I have so much to blog about. I hope I don’t forget all the funny stuff before I have time to get it out here!!)
You got this!!
I enjoy baseball season (reminds me of my grandpa listening to the Tigers on his little radio) but nothing is better than hearing Carson yell “come on Miguel (or Prince or whoever is up to bat) – you got this!” at the tv.
Example 4,384,189
Here is example 4,384,189 of why it’s a good thing I’m not a teacher (because I’m horrible at explaining things). Mallory was asking about how the gas gets out of your car. She asked if it got on fire in the engine.
I really don’t know what happens, but I know there isn’t a fire under my hood, so I told her that no, it just burns up, but it isn’t on fire.
I pointed out how the pavement was wet from the rain last night but in some parts it was already dry, so the water “evaporated”, and how …
Thrilled
Mallory brought a Fancy Nancy book home from the library today; if you’ve never read a Fancy Nancy book before, you wouldn’t know that throughout the book, Fancy Nancy introduces many fancy words (and tells you what the fancy word means).
One of the words tonight was “thrilling” and it was explained as “more exciting than exciting!”.
Mallory asked what that meant. As an example I told her I was “thrilled” that Michigan beat Ohio State last year.
She said back: “I am thrilled that we’ve won almost all of our games except against Alabama.”
And in a conspiring voice she leaned close and told me: “Nathan …
Kicking off the 2012 season
My kids couldn’t stand it that it was finally time for a home football game again. When Mallory woke up yesterday morning, I asked her if she was ready to watch the football game on TV and she yelled “NO! IT IS A HOME GAME!!!”
I was pretty proud of myself – I had my stuff all ready the night before so for the most part I just had to grab it and go in the morning. We were out the door by 9.50a, and after a stop to pick up my folks and the chicken and Miss Header, we got …
Kids in my Kitchen
Some quiet time at home allowed me to take some quiet time pictures of my kids.
First, Carson lining up his lunchable parts to make his sandwich.
Mallory loves her some watermelon so I let her cut some up. Unfortunately only about 1/4 of what she cut up actually ended up in the tupperware bowl next to her because she ate most of it
Whoop there it is
This is pretty irrelevant for most everyone, but I’ve told this story like 50 times the past 24 hours and I wanted to write it all down.
Mallory has whooping cough, also known as pertussis. That’s the point of the story, but not the whole story. Let’s back up about six weeks.
We were in Lake Placid for Rick’s race and we ran out of Singulair, an allergy/asthma treatment pill that the kids are supposed to take every night but really only in the winter. So I didn’t worry about refilling it and figured it would be a good test to see how they’d …
Fine
I totally got a “fine” with a huge sigh from Carson today.
I asked for a kiss before he went downstairs and he kept telling me no. So I said he better or else he couldn’t have ice cream for dessert.
That’s when he gave me a big sigh and said “FINE”.
But I got my kiss.
Minivan Concert ~ September 1, 2012
It is so helpful to always have a spare camera to record the impromptu concerts that may take place in your backseat.
