My sister had her baby this morning at 6:14a…a boy named Liam. 7lbs, 11ozs and 20 inches long. He doesn’t look anything like her other two did at birth and he has a TON of dark hair.
Congrats Emily & Michael!!!
Randomness
We’ve had a rough week in our house. Rick has been really sick with the flu, missing 3 days of work including a work party at the Chophouse with free drinks & food (Rick has never been one to turn down free food & drink!). He has been running a fever since Thursday so I’ve been playing nurse to him, while being a single parent to Mallory. So far Mallory & I have been able to avoid catching whatever nasty bug Rick has and I am anxiously awaiting Rick’s recovery so I can get some help with Mallory! She is getting …
Some random pictures
Gigi (my mom) sent Mallory a postcard from Florida. I let her “read” it and she was turning it over and around to check it all out.
Both Rick & I celebrate birthdays in April and this year my dad did a joint gift – we got this kick-a$$ baby carrier thing for Mal-Star so we can continue to walk in the woods. I’ll tell you – this was way easier and more comfortable than the baby bjorn! Mallory seemed to really like it too – she was craning her neck to look around Rick.
The Easter Bunny brought Mallory some sunglasses in her …
Buddha Baby
We tried a new “first” with Mallory tonight – instead of giving her a bath lying down on a mat in the tub, we inflated the little tub thing that fits inside the regular tub and let her sit up in that. It allowed her to reach for her toys and even though she was sort of leaning against the sides of the blow-up tub, she was doing a decent job keeping her balance. But oh boy, seeing her sit there with a bare tummy – that girl has a belly on her!
She turned five months old last …
lazy saturday
i have been waiting for a day like today for a long time. almost a whole day with nothing to do. mallory let me sleep until almost 7 (too bad rick’s alarm went off at 6a) and promptly went down for a nap ~8.30am. i should have gone back to bed too but i am on a scrapbooking mission to get as caught up as possible. it’s practically blizzarding outside right now so i don’t feel guilty sitting here doing nothing :-)
yesterday was good friday so we sent mallory to daycare in her adorable bunny outfit that brendan & kaylie’s …
life lesson from a 6 year old
my nephew is unbelievable. i told him today that i don’t want him to get any bigger because if he gets older, i get older.
his wise response? “well, that’s just how life is.”
are you KIDDING me??!?!?!

in other news, we have had a few days of teaser spring weather. they have been forecasting rain for days and days and it hasn’t really shown up as they’ve been threatening. today mallory & i stopped by the Michigan softball game for a bit (rick had some showing off to do…) and then we came home to play with cooper. with the lake thawed and …
happy birthday to me!
wow. 37. when i was younger 37 seemed so old. now that i’m here it just sounds old – i don’t feel so old. well sometimes i do when i am a little slow getting up off the floor after playing with mallory.
my birthday weekend has been good so far: a mid-day pedicure & lunch date with some good friends yesterday (even mallory got her toes painted to match mine!), dinner with my family at my mom’s yesterday evening, a big ultimate margarita at Friday’s with rick & mallory on our way home from my mom’s. this morning mallory enjoyed …
look ma, no hands!!
today when i pulled up to mallory’s daycare, she was out for a walk in the parking lot. i started to giggle seeing her sitting in the 4-kid stroller and had to run back to the car to get my camera phone. when i came back, she had her hands up ~ it totally looked like she was in a roller-coaster car, saying “look ma, no hands!!!”
family photo
for as many pictures that we take of mallory, in the past 4+ months we have only taken two pictures of all three of us. so when we had mallory’s 3-mo pictures taken last month, we had some photos taken with rick & me too. here we are!! :-)
already a rinkrat
i had my end-of-season hockey tournament this past weekend and our team was hosting it again. this meant that our manager/captain basically lived at the rink for the whole weekend and mallory & i were there to help almost the whole weekend. mallory helped check in all the players at the sign-in table in the hospitality room and was very agreeable to being passed around to all of my teammates. we didn’t get super-great sleep out of her the nights after being at the rink but while we were at the rink, she was very enjoyable. it is so nice …
