First day of Kindergarten (September 2011)…
and the last day of Kindergarten (June 2012 ~ complete with remnants of dress rehearsal makeup…)
Isn’t so she cool with the backpack over one shoulder? I mean honestly…
Toughest mom moment
I just had my toughest moment as a mom…trying to decipher Mallory’s explanation for how she wanted her hair tomorrow. She said she wanted two ponytails and one is like this and then the other is like this. She tried to show me on her Barbie head but her hair wasn’t long enough. So she tried to do it on my hair but instead she pulled out a ton of hair in her attempts to do her dream hairdo.
It took about 10 minutes and her getting crazy frustrated at me for not getting what she was trying to explain …
Tonight’s book
This is the book Mallory grabbed for us to read at bedtime tonight. It’s the hard cover version of my blog from 2006 & 2007.
I wish I’d been videoing her when she said “REALLY???? You wrote this book?”
Big Wuv
Me: “I love you Carson”
Carson: “I wuv you, Mommy”
Me: “I love you more!”
Carson: “I wuv you to the back and moon!!”
A Garden Party
This is Mallory’s last week of kindergarten. My sweet girl’s last week of kindergarten. You know, the kindergarten I wrote about nine months ago, before she started?
She canNOT be going to first grade next year, but she assures me that she is, because she is so smart from everything she learned this year, because she learned like from here to grandma’s house in Ohio much. And next year in first grade she will learn as much from here to Florida, and in second grade – from here to HAWAII!
I don’t know that I knew what Hawaii was in kindergarten. Or …
Mom’s Restaurant
Rick is gone to a half-ironman race this morning. Me, being lazy, didn’t even work out this morning.
Instead I got some work done before the kids woke up.
When they woke up, I asked what they wanted for breakfast. I was planning on eggs and bacon for me and the kids could have whatever they wanted. Sort of.
Mallory said she wanted cinnamon rolls but I told her that wasn’t on the menu. She asked what was on the menu, and being the nerd that I am, I whipped up a quick menu for her.
Mallory & Carson both chose cereal and toast, …
Texting with Mallory
Mallory has my old iPhone and can text people who have an iPhone (when she is on a wireless network). Our texting sessions usually result in some really funny exchanges.
Enjoy.
Peanuts, get yer peanuts!
I’ve lightly touched on Carson’s peanut allergy over the past almost three years (here in August 2009 when he was four months old and here when he was 11 months old) but we have reached the end of our peanut allergy saga and I’m so happy!
I’ll start at the beginning. Well, you can start at the beginning by reading that post from August 2009. Then I’ll pick up from there.
In August 2009, Carson had a skin test for peanuts (put peanut serum on his arm, along with a saline solution and a histamine – scratch the skin at all three …
Spring Soccer
Both kids started outdoor soccer this spring.
The first two weeks were cold and wet (not full on rain but enough precipitation to be uncomfortable). I kept telling myself “this is why I haven’t let Mallory play soccer…this is why I haven’t let Mallory play soccer”.
But just like the weather – everything has improved each week.
Carson has done great every week – he goes like crazy for 45 minutes and then the last 15 minutes he is uninterested. But while he’s playing, he is so fun to watch. At the risk of bragging, he’s one of the best kids out there – …
Spring Bonfires
One nice perk from the tornado was that we ended up with a huge pile of wood for our fire-pit (from the tree that fell into our yard). We didn’t have very many good fires because the wood was too wet, but it was still so fun to hang out with our neighbors and get to know people better (that was another nice perk – I think we got to know some neighbors better than we would have otherwise).
The lack of a real fire didn’t stop us from standing around the smoking fire-pit and watch the kids run around the …
