Mallory has been a little bit in love with playing teacher for a while. We got her a teacher set last Christmas with little report cards and hall passes. She makes Carson sit in a chair in the middle of the living room and instructs him to be “the kid” and then says “OK kid. What do you want, kid.”. So fun.
Well, if you add in her new math workbooks, she has now learned to take being a teacher a step further.
The other day she got a piece of paper out and started writing out some math and told me …
Swing batter batter…
This glorious fall weather makes you feel guilty for not being outside in it.
So, while Rick took Mallory to dance class, Carson & I played baseball. First he wanted me to pitch to him but he’s not so good with making contact so I talked him to getting the tee (or is it t?). I also got my camera because he was so cute batting. I sat at the end of the slide and took some pictures of my baby boy.
After a few hits, Carson announced that it was his turn to take “peektures” and reached for my [not inexpensive …
Road Trip
Nothing like a beautiful fall weekend with 80* weather for a night football game on the shores of Lake Michigan!
The kids and my folks and I took to the highway (or espressaway as Mallory still calls it) to watch Michigan play “the Kitties” (Northwestern).
We made a stop at Lou Malnatis in Chicago for my favorite pizza before going to Evanston. We tried to scope out parking and tailgating options but they don’t have golf courses and high schools nearby (and for some reason my package of football parking passes didn’t come with a pass for Ryan Field…)
So, we thought we …
Filler
I don’t have time to write a proper post so instead I’ll share this picture.
Semi-progress in potty training
There are a few personality differences I have observed between my two kids.
One is that Carson is waaaaaaaay more outgoing than Mallory is. Mallory gets shy around people she’s seen a hundred times, while Carson will walk right up to anyone and say HI! (I’ve heard this is a second kid thing). And Carson will pretend he’s shy sometimes when he sees Mallory hiding behind my legs, and Mallory will pretend she is brave when she sees Carson getting attention for being outgoing. Weirdos.
Another difference between them is that Mallory has always been a pleaser and (usually) wants …
Homecoming Week
Homecoming was last week in our town – and I think it is ADORABLE how they talked it up all over the place, even in Mallory’s elementary school. She told us early in the week that she was going to go to a PARADE – even before I realized it was Homecoming and stuff.
So on Thursday when I met her at the bus stop she was all “AND I THAW (saw) THE BAND AND TWO FOOTBALL PLAYERS CAME TO MY CLASS AND SHOWED US THEIR GEAR”.
And I further learned that she didn’t ask a teacher to help her open part …
Game 4, 2011
Hmmmm…
CW – could you please just smile for a picture with your dear old mom?
Grandpa – was this as insulting to you as it was when I read a book during our tour of the Grand Canyon back when I was like 12?
Tackle football with the K kids. The first day back to school after playing with B, K & A usually results in the teachers mentioning that C was a little rough with the other kids ;-)
Weally weally fast…
We won. We beat San Diego State. Go Blue!
Um, yeah.
This is what happens when you don’t supervise your almost 2.5 year old during cupcake eating time after a Michigan football game.
He’s lucky he’s cute…
Carson is doing pretty well with sleeping in his own bed – most of the time. There are nights though where he won’t settle down and out of necessity I let him come to our bed to sleep. Last night was one of those nights. He had a weird weekend of sleeping and didn’t nap much and is still working on a weird cough so I think he just can’t figure out how to go and stay to sleep very well.
So last night when he was calling for me I told him to climb in my bed. When I came …
Mohawk
I usually make Carson’s hair up into a mohawk after his baths – he laughs and Mallory laughs and it’s fun.
Combing his hair this morning – I started to wet it down and then he requested a “Mo-awk”. I got out the pomade or styling gunk or whatever it’s called from under the sink and tried to get it to stand up. It’s too long to really hold the mohawk – unless I sprayed it with hair spray and I had gotten enough dirty looks from Rick when I pulled out the styling pomade stuff so I chose to not …
