Rite of passage
Mallory made her first PB&J sandwich this past weekend. I was so proud of her. It reminded me of this A-DORABLE picture of myself from back when I was 4-ish. No, I’m not wearing a diaper.
Weally Fast
Here is the video of Carson’s latest parlor trick. We had to get it on video before it wasn’t cute anymore. (I also had to enlist the help of our neighbors to act as his audience. If it’s just me asking him what Denard does, he will take off for a (weally fast) lap, but that isn’t quite as cute as watching him do the arm pump motion.)
After Saturday’s game, I asked Carson if he wanted to go say hi to Brady Hoke. He said yes so off we went. He kept telling me “I on’t ee im” (I don’t …
Homework
No, Mallory doesn’t have *real* homework from school yet, but we know lots of people who do Kumon. We weren’t ready to do real Kumon, so instead I got Mallory some Kumon workbooks from amazon.com and we are going to try to be consistent in working with her every day. Except Saturdays because we are too busy with football to take time out to do homework.
So M has some math workbooks. So far it’s just been practicing writing numbers and she is already sometimes bored and being grumpy about it. It isn’t making me excited for when she has real …
More Mallory (and one Carson)
After the UM-EMU game last weekend, Mallory told Rick “I was looking at you (down on the sidelines) through the binoculars and I said HI DADDY and why didn’t you even say anything?”
* * *
STB (giving MCB a big hug after school on Thursday): “Did you know that I think about you all day and wonder how you are doing and if you are having fun at school?”
MCB: (nods head)
STB: “Do you think about me and what I’m doing?”
MCB: “Well, I think about that you have breakfast”.
It’s a true statement that I eat breakfast almost every day in the …
Waves
My darling daughter has some wacky hair. She insists on tucking it behind her ears (which doesn’t keep it from getting in her face) and she is unable to keep barrettes in her hair, so there are times I do a braid cross the front of her hair (if I can’t talk her into my favorite hairstyle – pigtail buns).
The best thing is that this braid thing keeps the hair out of her face. But the really best thing is that this hairdo lasts through swim class and sleeping so it’s good for at least two days!!
Last time she had this hairdo …
Already?
Mallory got some mail today – and as I slowly read it to her, she said the words that are outlined in red. She got “the” and “and” right away and then she totally sounded out “flower” and “great”. I WAS DYING! At first I thought maybe she guessed “the” by how the words were flowing, and maybe she guessed “and” too. But when she started to sound out flower and great – I really was so proud. She has some early reader Fancy Nancy books that we’ll have to find so she start reading for reals. GO MAL!
This note …
Perks
Just a fun little photo session we did of the kids at the football stadium during the summer.
Yes, it’s a perk. No, I can’t take your family’s pictures there. Sorry.
September Update
So – I’m sure you are all DYING to hear how school is going for Mallory. I can’t believe I haven’t done a wordy post since school started two weeks ago.
The good news is this – school is going fantastically. I think? She still runs off the bus every single afternoon, and she & Nathan race down the street (well, at least the days that Nathan’s mom doesn’t pick him up at the bus stop in her car). My dog – who is the world’s smartest dumb dog – learned – after just two days of walking to the bus …
Tattoo
Oops. Should have put sunscreen on before applying the football helmet tattoo.
