Carson’s daycare director took these pictures and put this together today. I’m afraid of what is going to happen the week before Michigan and MSU actually play.
Cause
Carson asked Mallory to take his socks off of his feet.
Mallory sat down to help him and asked him: “Carson. Why do you love me more than mommy and daddy?”
Carson: “Cause”.
Hot lunch fail
Mallory was instructed to buy lunch today. Macaroni & cheese was on the menu so we thought it would be a good first hot lunch day for her.
Walking home from school, I asked her how lunch was.
She told me she ate Lucky Charms and sausage.
She wasn’t joking.
“I thought you said we won?”
Michigan played their first ever night game in Michigan Stadium last night. We won. It was awesome. It was exciting. It was everything it could have been.
I told Rick before the game that Michigan better win because otherwise it would have been a waste of a perfectly great tailgate and day. I left the kids with a sitter (thank you Miss Joy!) and prayed it wouldn’t rain and that we’d win. I wasn’t disappointed.
Our day started off with a family trip to Lowes – Rick actually didn’t have to go into work until about the time I was going to …
Football Education
I love their breakfast conversations. This morning – this happened:
MCB: “CarTHUN – we usually want the Buckeyes to lose and Michigan State to lose. But when the Buckeyes are playing Michigan State, we can win (root) for Michigan State.”
CWB: “No. BOOO Spartys”
* * *
And I wanted to save this for Michigan State week but I’ll share it now.
Mallory & I were at the pharmacy the other day, and (for some unknown and weird reason) the shelves with a million boxes of Trojan condoms are right next to the pharmacy checkout at our grocery store.
They look like blocks, so my …
Carson update
With all the kindergarten goings on, you’d think we didn’t have another kid in the house, so I thought I’d give a quick update on Carson.
He’s back in his toddler bed (which he calls his “big kid bed”).
He doesn’t leave his bed very much once we’ve put him down, but he does get out a couple of times, mostly to stand at the top of the stairs and yell down either “I COME OWNAIRS WIB YOU?” (I come downstairs with you?) [to which Mallory responded tonight – from her own bed – “NO CARTHUN!”] or “YOU COME DUDDLE ME, MOMMY?”, …
..And she’s home
She certainly doesn’t look too traumatized from her first day of kindergarten.
She was happy and skipping all the way home from the bus stop and we couldn’t really get Mallory to tell us much about her day until I promised her she could have a cookie if she fessed up.
They went outside, had a snack & drank milk, sang a song, read a book, and she made some new friends but can’t remember their names.
And then I finally got my hug and kiss.
Off she goes
Today was kindergarten day!
But first I had to take a picture last night of my baby girl when she wasn’t yet a kindergartener.
And here she is – on her first morning of being a kindergartener. Doesn’t she look so much bigger and different?
Here are my kids all dressed on their first day of school in 2011. My neat idea last year of having a chalkboard with their room/year on it was a really great one – right up until I hid the chalkboard so the kids wouldn’t ruin it and couldn’t find it. Enter a piece of paper and a …
Game One
Michigan’s 2011 season started yesterday.
The weather predictions were all over the place the whole week before the game. As late as Thursday night there were predictions of 60% chance of strong afternoon thunderstorms on Saturday. By Friday morning it had dropped to 20% chance – HOORAY! But it was now forecasted to be in the mid-90s. Hmmm.
As we packed up the van Saturday morning I totally forgot to pack rain gear. But it was like 80* and not a cloud in the sky at 9.30a. I had sunscreen though, which was all I thought we’d need.
Biggie & Rich had a …
So long, farewell…
Last day of preschool for the pumpkinhead was on Friday. I was way more emotional than I should have been, given the fact that Carson still goes to that school, and Mallory should be back there next summer for daycare.
I did lose it big time with one of her former teachers (who is now one of Carson’s teachers). Miss Mary was one of Mallory’s caregivers in the infant room, and Alli and Mallory used to fight over Miss Mary’s lap – I’m sure there are some good blog posts about that from 2007-ish :-)
So, the end of an era, sort …
