This was the birthday card my sweet boy made for his big sister on her 8th birthday.
It says “HAPPY BIRTHDAY MALLORY. I {HEART} YOU!”
And on the back he wrote “I {HEART} YOU!! FROM CARSON”.
Unfortunately he used a yellow highlighter and it didn’t scan well but hopefully you can still read it sort of. Love that kid.
November 2014
I miss this place.
I really do. I miss recording all the funny stuff the kids say because they are still so crazy funny.
Mallory is doing great in 3rd grade; according to the teacher she is a dream student. Carson is doing great in kindergarten when he isn’t getting in trouble for kissing girls at lunch or trying to tackle friends in his classroom.
C has a clip chart in his classroom and the whole class starts green in the morning – you can then either move up to blue – purple – pink, or move down to yellow – …
First day of school – 2014
And just like that, it was the first day of school. Mallory was heading to third grade (and a new school!) and Carson was heading to KINDERGARTEN!
Both kids have been very excited about school starting. Mallory woke up Monday morning [the day before school started] and said “I wish it was TOMORROW already!!!” and on the first day of school, Carson woke up and said “I am just SO tired but not so tired I need to go back to sleep but I need to stretch because I need energy for the PLAY-ground.”
I didn’t even get any getting off the …
2014 School Year – videos
I just heard about this super fun app for my phone (future readers, that means it’s a program on my handheld mobile telephone – currently I’m using an iPhone 5). It allows you to create these adorable videos – they prompt you with questions and put it together with the music and everything!
School started two weeks ago but I still did the beginning of the school year template. Here they are for both kids.

Puppy
I love when Carson gives me one of his puppies to sleep with at night. It isn’t every night but it is most nights.
If he’s in my bed, he will hand his puppy to me and say I can sleep with it.
But nights like tonight, the rare night he is in his own bed, he runs into my room and throws his puppy on my bed and lets me know that I can sleep with it.
I think it is the sweetest thing ever. Love him.
Funny Dreams
Carson falls asleep in our bed almost every night and a lot of times when Rick finally comes to bed, he just leaves him here. Most is the time it’s ok but there are nights where Carson ends up perpendicular to us – using Rick’s back as a pillow and putting his feet in my face. Other nights he is super active in his sleep and kicks and punches me all night.
But two times this week – right as I was waking up – I heard him laughing in his sleep. I was more awake today and could actually …
Almost
After a recent rainy afternoon, the evening sky provided a perfect opportunity to try to take some pictures of my kids. Unfortunately, the mosquitos also got the memo about it being a good night to be out & about. And that, along with Carson’s inability to give me a natural smile 90% of the time, made for a shortened photo session. But I still got these pictures and love them – my almost kindergartener and my almost third grader.
I still can’t believe it.
My Mommy Trick
When the kids are arguing and fighting and being bratty at/to eachother, my new trick is to make them sit against a wall and hold hands.
Even if we are at baseball.
HAHAHAHAHA.

Not until I’m 7. Ok, today is good.
My sweet boy is so not like his sister in so many ways and when it came to learning to ride a bike, it reminded me of this again.
Carson had told us that he didn’t want to learn how to ride a bike until he turned 7. But when I told him that once he learned how to ride a bike, we could ride bikes to Dairy Queen (I wasn’t interested in suffering through a trip to DQ with him and training wheels and hills).
DQ was the trick because he let me take the wheels off on Sunday night. It …
Henry Hall – 26 years later
Earlier this month, the kids and I finally were able to make the reunion weekend in Ludington with a group of my friends from freshman year at Western. We all lived together in Henry Hall and though I haven’t been great about keeping in touch, thank goodness for Facebook and for Susan for continuing to host this fun weekend.
We got there Thursday night and the kids wasted no time getting in freezing Lake Michigan – even though I forgot Mallory’s bathing suit, she just went in in her shorts & shirt (she really does love the water!). I couldn’t dare …
